SIMES celebrates its first decade of LED expertise, acquired from the late 90s.
In 1999 Simes began to reveal some interest in those light sources that were
originally conceived exclusively as SOFT LEDs for signal lighting: small, decorative
low voltage light sources, powered at 0,5-2W.
Such developing market inspired the start up of a close cooperation with OSRAM,
for the engineering of new products designed around LED light sources.
This first attempt gave birth to the development of MICROLED, a small, low voltage
signal light powered at 24V.
The start of this decade, characterised by encouraging market signals, combined
with the need for smaller products, led to the development of MICROZIP, a small
luminaire, specifically designed for LED light sources, and working at 230V was
made possible by the chip-on-board technology.
As LED technology became more and more efficient over a short period of time,
temperature problems had to be overcome by intensive research on heat dissipation.
This, together with improved reliability, opened the door to further exploitation of
LED technology. Simes began to introduce such technology for accent lighting
effects and for in-ground luminaires that were developed with shallower recessing
depths.
More recently, the introduction of high efficiency LEDs consolidated the success of
such light sources. Such success was primarily due to the continuous improvement
of better performing lenses, reflectors and drivers. The characteristics of those
components contributed to the improved performances of the LED sources. This
step forward was possible thanks to the synergy between LED manufacturers - such
as PHILIPS LUMILEDS, OSRAM, CREE or CITIZEN - and companies like SIMES,
that shared their know-how and contributed to the evolution of increasingly efficient
luminaires and light sources.

allows the use of LED products not only for accent lighting applications but also
for functional solutions that require a wider light distribution.

The continuous research has enabled us to introduce the most advanced
technologies for color control.
Simes has developed professional DMX systems now used in all RGB versions.
LEDS DOUBLE THE PERFORMANCES
The latest LED generation can exceed the performance of traditional sources
doubling in efficiency every 18 months.
